It has been a long time coming but I guess I firstly need to explain my silence over the past couple of months, Yes, the tumbleweeds have been bouncing across my blog and my inbox is more unmanageable than Bruce Almighty's. However, I have so much to tell you and so many stories to cover over the past few months...
Well...I don't expect you've been sitting on the edge of your desk and crying yourself to sleep but maybe you want to know what happened? Why did I abandon my beloved website?
There aren't really any excuses good enough but to start with....I've been busy growing a human being in my tummy! Yep, still don't totally believe it myself, I know it happens all the time (kind of every second across the World really) but I'm still marvelling at what a miracle it really is.
I've also moved country, from Vancouver, Canada to London, England. It has been a really tough relocation, not least because of the rapidity of the move but also because I was clutching a to do list as long as my arm whilst hugging the toilet bowl (yay morning sickness). Also, my beautiful dog needed me more than ever in what continues to be a huge game changer for her as well.
My move to London also meant that my "working from home" arrangement automatically turned into a full time office job in the City on touchdown in England.
Yep, so one of the above matters in isolation would be slightly manageable but add all together and I found myself in a little bit of a pickle.
I really feel like I let myself and others down by taking an unscheduled break from thexpatspouse.com, but sometimes we have to give ourselves a bit of a break.
What dawned on me throughout the past couple of months, other than a super human sense of smell isn't the best power for a pregnant women to have....
(sure, maybe hundreds of years ago for sensing approaching danger but when you have one of the moving men sporting Eau d'B.O combined your nausea - I do wonder whether another superhuman sense could be much more useful these days)
...is how Expat Spouses are basically Superheroes. Yes, we are blimming amazing!
While my Husband was dropped in to the deep end of an extremely challenging role in a completely different culture to Vancouver with little notice - I was left to handle all matters of the relocation (which I don't think I need to reiterate to this audience)! That is, in despite of the above (pregnancy, working and moving country mit bebe doggy) I saved my Husband hours and hours of time; that is I saved my Husband's employer's time.
Our relocation is not over yet, we are still in temporary accommodation and in the meantime, I'm channeling my inner superhero. I'm just deciding who that is, some kind of mix between Thor, Cinderella and Superwoman.
Thanks for your patience and I'm glad to be back
